Meeting in Spain

Our third meeting is in Spain, May 4th to 8th, 2011

 

Programme of the project meeting – Avila, May 4 - 8, 2011

 

Accommodation:  Residencia Santo Tomás, it is next to my school.

Breakfast schedule: Monday to Friday from 7.00h to 10.00h and Saturday and Sunday from 8.30h to 10,00h.

Wednesday

 

  • Arrival from Madrid.
  • Firstly I am picking up the Slovak and the Belgian team in terminal 4 and then I am picking up the Danish team in terminal 2. Ulla, sorry but I think maybe you have to wait a little because your flights are almost at the same time. So, please if we are late, wait for us in the arrival hall.
  • We are going to Madrid to visit the city centre while we are waiting for the Czech team who are arriving at 7.40 pm.
  • After having picked all you up we are leaving to Avila.
  • We are arriving at 10 pm aprox.
  • We are leaving the luggage in the rooms and we are having dinner to a nearby restaurant called “Bar sur” at 10.30 pm.  (9 Euros per person) www.restaurantebarsur.com

    Thursday 

  • Presentations: Art and literature at 9.30 at school. 
  • We are having an appetizer at the school.
  • Guided tour to see the school for the European students by the Spanish ones.
  • At 14.00 Lunch at “Restaurant Tres siglos”  https://www.tressiglos.com/contenido.htm
  • At 16.00 guided visit in English to see the most important monuments of Avila, it lasts  2 hours and a half.
  • At 18.30 we are going up the medieval walls (there are stairs, don’t worry, we don’t have to climb them like in the middle ages).
  • Free time.
  • At 21.30 Dinner in restaurant “Plaza de Zurraquín” 

Friday 

  • Trip to Salamanca. We are leaving at 9.30 from the school. (Salamanca University is the oldest in Spain and this city is very well-known because of this)
  • Guided tour (Visiting the Roman bridge, la Casa Lis, both Cathedrals, Anaya square, the University, el Patio de Escuelas, la Casa de las Conchas, la Clerecía, la Universidad Pontificia and the main square.
  • At 14.00 Lunch in the Anaya square (the college where I studied English Philology is here, it is a beautiful square and it will be full of students, so you can enjoy the University atmosphere).
  • Free time. The bus leaves at 18.30.
  • We are arriving in Avila about 20.00.
  • At 21.30 Dinner in the restaurant called “La Posada de la fruta” (Avila)  https://www.posadadelafruta.com
  • After dinner, we can go for a drink. Spanish kids can take the European students somewhere and we can enjoy ourselves.

Saturday 

§  Trip to Madrid. We are leaving at 9.00 from school.

§  At 11.15 we are visiting the Prado Museum, it is free.

§  At 13.00 walk through some of the most famous areas in Madrid; Paseo del Prado, Cibeles Square, Sol Square, main square, opera square and Royal Palace.

§  At 14.30 lunch in Retiro park. It is a beautiful park where you can rent a boat in the lake or just enjoy the wonderful sight.  https://www.parquedelretiro.es

§  At 16.00 free time in Sol area until 18.50. The bus leaves at 19.00 from Plaza de España, corner Gran Via, in front of Starbucks.

§  We arriving in Avila about 20.40.

§  At 22.00 Dinner in the restaurant called “La Posada de la fruta” (Avila) 

Sunday 

  • Back trip to Madrid. We are leaving at 10.00 from school.
  • We are visiting the flea market in Madrid. https://www.elrastro.org . On Sunday people usually go to this market where you can find anything. It is the best thing you can do if you are in Madrid on Sunday. And after that we can enjoy having something to drink and eat in this area because there are lots of typical bars.
  • During the morning firstly slovak team and then Czech and Danish team are going to the airport. The Belgian team can enjoy a little more of Madrid.
